In 1994, Kurt Thornburg was asked to install garage doors for a custom home built with stone masonry and timber frames. Entry to the house passed by the garage doors, making them quite noticeable. Due to limited choices at the time for steel and wood products, Kurt decided to build his own custom doors to match the house. And with that project Door Tech was born.

Contractors, architects, and the general public noticed these striking doors and requests for Kurt's custom-designed garage doors began to flood in. His careful blending of the garage door with the home attracted people, and Kurt began working with architects and homeowners to find the right look for each house.

Kurt continues to create these custom masterpieces—garage doors that perfectly open up the personal vision and artistic expression of each home.
